DEET: The sole neurotoxicologically significant effect was seen in high dose rats as an increase in motor activity at the beginning of the session. Body weight decreases of 10% and 15 %, respectively, were seen in rats during all periods measured at the two highest doses.
LOAEL: Increased motor activity at 5,000 ppm (roughly 225 mg/kg); LOAEL: 2,000 ppm (roughly 90 mg/kg).
The study is considered of acceptable quality [taken from the cover memo]. This is a valid and well conducted study. [There is no guideline requirement for this type of study.]
